Glamping: a new type of tourism

Recently I heard the word "glamping" related to a new type of tourism that is rising in popularity. What would you say if someone asks you, do you want to go glamping? Do you know what glamping is?
Well, gampling is the combination of two words "glamour" and "camping." If you like going camping, but you want to the comforts of a hotel, then you need to go glamping and not just camping. Some people are put off from doing camping because of the bugs, wild animals, sudden storms, leaking tents, uncomfortable sleeping bags and questionable food. But there is now a new camping option: glamping. Here the tourist is presented with amenities, stays in fashionable decorated tents with pleasant illumination as well as is provided with full-course meals.

Let´s have a look at the following video that illustrates this new type of niche tourism:

What do you prefer: camping or glamping? Please leave your comments

It's cool! Any way I prefere traditional camping with tents, camp-fire. Anyway glamping is good idea for people who want to spend good time among nature without insects in own tent. I thing there are people in the world, who doesen't exactly know what camping mean, they know just glamping.

In my opinion this kind of tourist is a luxury alternative and it isn’t new, because it is the same tourist that people have been doing during several years in some Island as Maldives (http://www.kuredu.com/), in that case there are a change of environment, instead of beach people look for countryside. If you observe people who used to do camping, they usually are young people who can’t afford to spend too much money. And it is an expensive one, so in my opinion glamping has not too much in common with the aim of camping!

Undoubtely, I prefer camping. I think Glamping decreases the charm of the nature. Being in contact with the nature means all this "ugly things" that people who go glamping says. So, If you really want to be in contact with the nature, you must go camping.

It's a good idea! Especially for people who do not like being in direct contact with nature. However, I prefer the traditional camping, in our house we have a lot of comfort, it isn't bad sleep for a few days on the ground or be surrounded by insects.

In my opinion “Glamping” is a new way to travel, and this video shows us how people who are interested in special sites as natural environment can choose this option but they mustn’t give up travelling and enjoying the amenities and comfort .
I am not sure I would like to do this kind of tourism, but this is an example how tourist market are changing and of course how important is to innovate around each industry.

I like glamping!!it's a new way to travel and you also can enjoy of the nature. I supose it's more expensive that camping, but also you have better services..I don't think glamping is for all kind of tourist, because normally, people who go campings are young and don't have a lot of money, and they normally want to enjoy of environment and being in contact with nature.
Maybe if I had money, I would practice glamping, why not?

There is no doubt! I prefer 'glamping' because it is less likely that I find an insect! I know that it is not the same and this way you are not in direct contact with nature, but I do not mind! I do not like being in contact with insects nor spiders.

It was very interesting to watch the video because it is emerging now and I had no idea, I am sure I will try soon!

I think it is a different way of enjoy as being in a hotel, but it is cannot be compared to camping, since the contact with the environment is lost. Although the bugs or the wild animals could be the worst part of this type of tourism, it made it what really is, and if you are in the middle of the countryside in a bungalow, you cannot call it “camping”. I would not practice it because I really like camping as it is, with all the negative aspects.

It is just a high class word, but nothing special. In croatia we call it rural or agrotourism. There are a lot of small family estates that provide such service described in the video, and places near rivers, or in the mountains, offer a lot of sport activities. So, you see, "glamping" is for everyone...

In my opinion I prefer "camping"in the traditional way, because you are in touch with real Nature and not anything fake.
